B is for Blue Banded Bee Biodiversity

The aim of our project is to increase the amount of habitat available in the school for blue-banded bees. The children will build the blue-banded bee homes, design the garden that the homes will be located in, plant the plants preferred by the blue-banded bee, and monitor and track the presence of the blue-banded bee within the school grounds. The expected (environmental and educational) outcomes of the project include greater availability of habitat for the blue-banded bee (and other insects) within the school grounds and greater understanding of the species as a pollinator, as well as its life cycle, habitat needs and place in Australia’s biodiversity.
