The aim of our project is to create a nature space within the school play space that students can utilise to investigate, explore and learn from both during formal lesson times and at play times. It will be a hands on opportunity to connect learning with life visually and through student agency. The children will be involved in designing the area, researching the types of plants that would best suit the area and native animals around, budgeting for plants and materials and then constructing, building and maintaining the space. The expected (environmental and educational) outcomes of the project include: increased nature (eg birds and animals) found within the grounds, enhancing the learning opportunities within our school environment, maths and literacy outcomes when designing, Indigenous links to local native plants and edible plants, design principles and team and social skills building as they participate within the project .
