The aim of our project is to develop a tantalising vegetable and fruit garden that the children will have access to eat the produce as it ripens. By being involved in the development of the garden, it will encourage the children to develop healthy eating habits as well as learn about sustainable food production. The children will be involved in developing the garden by contributing to the planning of the edible garden and researching what produce to plant in our area and when to plant. They will grow the plants from seeds, care for the plants and harvest, cook and eat the fruit and vegetables. The expected (environmental and educational) outcomes of the project include: students experiencing first-hand where food comes from; learning about the plant life cycles; and encouraging the children to develop healthy eating habits.
