Gardening Club

Hurstbridge Primary School

The aim of our project is to regenerate our Gardening Club following two years of Covid. This school’s Gardening Club provides an enjoyable and engaging opportunity for children to learn about sustainable growing and food production. Interested students from prep to grade 6 will grow and learn together along with community volunteers to assist. The children will be involved in: planning, design and implementation of the garden works. This will include the selection of edible plant species for purchase and growing those plants. The children will be planting (and in some cases growing from seed), care for, and harvest from the garden. The expected (environmental and educational) outcomes of the project include: the development of a love of gardening and excitement about what can be achieved. By engaging with the whole school community we hope to build the opportunity for family and community conversations about sustainable gardening and increasing engagement.
