Feathered Apartments

The aim of our project is to supplement the nesting opportunities for local parrots. Last year, during a very bad storm, a major nesting Gum fell over, destroying some major habitats. The children will be involved in selecting a species of parrot that they would like to encourage. Students will be selecting the sight of the nesting boxes, investigating the best design for the nesting boxes and building the nesting boxes. The expected (environmental and educational) outcomes of the project include: environmental outcomes include; providing extra habitat for local species and providing a safe space for these nesting birds. Educational outcomes include; general awareness of local species and their habitat requirements.
