Community Garden

Genius Childcare Norman Gardens

The aim of our project is to to establish a community garden for parents and students to utilize and to decrease our compostable food waste ending up in landfill. The children will be involved in planting and caring for crops, participate in harvesting, preparing, cooking and eating the produce, under the guidance of our Cook, who will introduce children to different foods they may not have tried before. We will also be introducing the concepts of healthy eating and sustainable food sources. The expected (environmental and educational) outcomes of the project include: children, staff and families will develop a clearer understanding of what’s involved in the production of food, and ways we can actively work towards reducing the amount of food waste going to landfill.
