Sustainable Garden Project

Maitland Lutheran School

The aim of our project is to empower students to be change-makers by improving their nutritional literacy, food waste awareness and environmental response. The children will be involved in the soil preparation, researching seasonal plant species and weed identification. They will also be involved in harvesting and preparing the produce to eat. The expected (environmental and educational) outcomes of the project include considering sustainability to meet personal and local community needs (ACTDEK001), providing a context for understanding seasonality and life cycles and understanding the role of food in life.
