Seaforth State School Community Garden

The aim of our project is gardening to promote good nutrition and nutrition education. We currently involve families and community by selling fresh fruit and vegetables to our local community. The children will be involved in designing, planting, weeding, and watering of our school garden. They will also be involved in the preparation of the produce for market to sell to our elderly community. The children will be making healthy choices and hopefully be able to cook with the produce in lessons. Our Garden will be integrated with the curriculum including Science, as students learn about plant cycles, photosynthesis, ecosystems and environmental sustainability. We can also teach Math class with lessons on area, volume, planning and addition/subtraction.
