We will be building a native garden so students can learn about the plants and their uses in a practical way, combining traditional Indigenous knowledge with modern scientific knowledge. We are located in the township of Woorabinda, an Aboriginal Deed of Grant in Trust (DOGIT) community which is an area held in trust and reserved for the benefit of First Nations people. Community Elders have worked with the school to identify local native trees and grasses with practical uses including making string and medicine, which form an important part of Indigenous culture and learning in Biological Sciences.
