Sustainable Indigenous Bush Tucker Garden

Athelstone Primary School

Our project aimed to create a sustainable garden with edible bush tucker and veggies – the water tank was the main ingredient to create a sustainable water source. Our students got involved creating gardens and a frog pond – the overflow from the water tank flowed directly into the frog pond. Students loved learning about the gardens and ways to store and save precious resources like water. The community was involved through plantings, helping establish the water tank and plumbing for the overflow. We were able to achieve our key focus on plants, water and sustainability whilst involving the school and wider community.
