Butterfly Garden

We created a project with a strong sustainability focus that integrates learning across the curriculum and create a calm outdoor learning space where students could experience education in a hands-on and real life context. Our butterfly garden enabled the community to take part in this venture and our students were able to design and work alongside them to establish our garden. Local conservationists, farmers and the school community were involved in the design process, spreading soil, weeding, planting, laying out mulch and setting up irrigation. The students have a renewed respect for sustainability, caring for nature and an appreciation for a hard day’s work getting their hands dirty.
