This project will add a sensory and cultural learning perspective to the school’s Early Childhood play space. The project aims to add a meandering gravel ‘Tucker Trail’ through a garden of various local ‘bush tucker’ and scented native plants. Our students will learn about the medicinal and food opportunities provided by the different plants and their use in traditional Nyoongar culture, thus building student respect of our local environment and indigenous peoples. Staff will engage the support of local native plant nurseries to teach students about the different plants and how to care for them. Signs will be made noting plant names in English and Whadjuk (local Noongar dialect).
