Our project enabled our students with intellectual disabilities and Autism to build a frog pond habitat area in our Sensory Garden. The frog pond provides a safe habitat for native frogs, insects and other wildlife. The students regularly visit and spend time watering, observing and caring for the plants around the frog pond. We have a small frog population beginning to establish itself in our new pond and the students are loving looking for them and watching them. Students have enjoyed researching the types of plants frogs like to live in and looking for bubbles in the water to see if the frogs are laying eggs yet. We continue to work on maintaining our frog pond and collecting frog data and observations.
