The main goal of our project was the regeneration of the native garden on the grounds of the pre-school. This was achieved – more plants were planted which achieved a fuller look to the garden that resulted in attracting more local fauna including frogs. We had to amend our original project concept slightly by arranging irrigation for the native garden when it was determined that the plants were not receiving enough water. We funded this partly from grant funds and paid for the balance with pre-school funds. The children of the pre-school are involved in observation, discussion and interaction with the renewed native garden which has underpinned discussions around Aboriginal cultural heritage, belonging, the importance of the outdoors to health and wellness and issues around sustainability and the environment
