Indigenous Cultural Garden

Bankstown South Infants School

The goal of our project was to develop a bush tucker garden around our new school hall. This was to help students gain an understanding of traditional Aboriginal plants as well as to restore biodiversity to our playground environment. We have established the garden around the hall and all students were involved in preparing the area, including the planting process. A range of native and edible Aboriginal bush tucker plants have been used which will be useful for learning about Aboriginal culture. The range of plants used will attract insects and birds, which will improve the biodiversity of our school environment.
