Bush Tucker Garden

Spearwood Primary School

We designed, constructed and planted a bush tucker garden in the school grounds as a legacy garden from the senior students, for younger students to enjoy. Students have an increased cultural awareness of local food plants and the traditional uses of these plants. Student researched features and adaptations of local flora and chosen plants that have the characteristics needed to flourish in our climate. Students investigated and created solutions around a food and fibre/materials project having been tasked to design a bush tucker/peace garden. Students worked cooperatively while collaborating to design and construct the pathway and applied strategies for achieving successful group work.
